Thanks! I’d like to swap to a darker bronze color and I’ve never been a huge fan of that style, but autocross season is coming so the budget is reserved for tires. I run these wheels during autox season

As tempted as I am by a new Mustang, FR-S wheel and tire costs for autox are a lot easier to stomach. :/

How does the boost come on in the Ecoboost? I’m finding that I’m not a fan of the rubber band feel of the turbo engine in my Legacy GT (it spools up the turbo quickly, but boost takes a small but noticable time to actually turn into power).

A 2015+ 5.0 is on my long list of potential next cars. Are you happy with the interior quality? Does it squeak/rattle at all or sound noisy on the highway? And have you had any strange little maintenance items?

How much nitrous are you running? Is it hard finding illegal 10K, four wide street races? Have you drifted over bridges that are opening? What is Letty like in real life? Do you like the tuna sandwiches? How often do you have to overnight parts from Detroit? Narc much? Do you use the nitrous too soon?

Hows it holding up?
I just passed 21k miles in mine. So far no major issues(just a few rattles and melted rear bumper reflectors (because of the large aftermarket exhaust).

What class are you going to run next season? Stp? I ask because the tune puts it out of FS.

I’m going to run STP. I put on a strut brace as well which is enough. Technically it’s still not legal in STP this year but since boost changes are being opened up it’ll be eligible this year. If I make it to nationals (I plan on it) I’ll probably flash the stock tune and run it that way in STP

200 shot. No, just use Facebook. I live in kansas we don’t have those. Short. I prefer the turkey. Daily (nightly?). Never. Always

Immediately. There’s the slightest lag but it’s only noticeable if you’re looking for it, once you’re in boost the torque curve is flat and it pulls like a mother. Makes me giggle every time I hammer it, it has enough power that traction on these all seasons is nonexistent, and it gets to frightening speeds in a hurry.

The interior is nice. There’s a little squeaking and rattling but it’s certainly not bad, hardly noticeable and only presents itself when the road sucks. This morning I drove from Wichita to OKC-silent on Kansas smooth roads, but something was creaking on bumps in Oklahoma.
Overall I’m extremely impressed by the quality. It’s nearly as nice as my mom’s A5 despite listing about $15k less

Why don’t you get a protune with “stock boost*” ? It’ll probably still run better than the canned OTS thing you have and be legal.
*SCCA’s definition of this seems to be centered around a peak pressure number, which means its possible to keep the peak number which on these small turbo motors is usually at a modest RPM, but stay at it for longer so you still end up with more and with respect to low speed preignition, safer power.

I haven’t had any issues worth noting to be honest. My speakers make a high pitch noise by apparently I’m the only one that hears it, and there’s this annoying ‘chatter’ sound from somewhere in front of me at highway speed that I haven’t been able to source. Easily drowned out with music, but a bit frustrating for a $30k+ car. Mine’s a 15 with a relatively early build date (Feb 15 - apparently sat on the lot for a year), so maybe that’s a contributor?
No mechanical issues besides a CEL early on that was a programming issue resolved with a TSB

nearly as nice as an A5? now that’s a compliment! The interior is my main sticking point with the new mustang, I really like the exterior styling

Because it wouldn’t be worth it. Doesn’t matter, boost is on track to be deregulated for 2018.
I personally think the rule is dumb and ruins the spirit of ST classes, so I’m glad it’s changing.
Good news is I am the local Solo chair so I can do whatever the fuck I want for local events, and I don’t have time to travel outside my region much

In premium guise there isn’t much to knock the S550 on. The material on the center console around the shifter/cup holders is about the only cheap feeling thing you interact with.

For sure. I briefly thought about moving to STP, mostly so that I can do a few mods that would really make the car a better overall package (shifter, springs etc.). But considering how competitive FS is in my region, and how fun it is to be able to mark my progress versus many different fast local drivers (like Mark Scroggs, Des Toups and Chris Cox), I think im going to stick it out at least this year. The ‘16 Camaros are making it more of an uphill battle (as if beating fast e9x m3's wasnt hard enough!), but taking home a class win at one event last year made me believe it’s possible.
I really want to go to nationals this year. Its an insane trek for me(im in the Sf bay area), and the logistics would be difficult, but I think I will try.

I recently got a full set of 245/40/17 RE71-Rs for ~$500. A local Firestone was running a buy 3 get 1 free deal, and didn’t do the whole jacking up the prices so you end up paying the same. I think they were only like $0.56/per tire more than TireRack’s price. Pretty happy about that deal. haha

2018, that’s over a year away. Besides it’ll be more fun to drive all the time. Besides re-tunes are cheap

If it’s a peak boost number then I’m probably still okay. The issue is I have no idea what was changed, it’s a proprietary tune. I wouldn’t really want to do a pro tune because the whole purpose of getting the ford tune was to preserve the warranty.
I don’t care that much. I autocross because it’s fun, I’m not that worried about national level competition

I usually do tire rack and have it sent to the same shop, last time the manager said he could order whatever I needed so I’m hoping I can get a better price than tire rack, or at least save on freight

isn’t this whole post about the fact that you’re at 15k miles? Most of the manufacturing defects should have reared their ugly head by now so screw the warranty and have FUN!

Interesting. 9 inch wide all around? My car has 9in fronts and 9.5in rears, but like you, I run 275 square(so that i can rotate the tires(not wheels, obviously). Running the star specs for now, 71r’s when these go(still lots of tread after 10k street miles and half a season of autox, amazingly).

Yeah, the GT has that staggered setup but these are 9" all around. Keen observers will note I don’t have the Performance Pack, my wheels are actually Ford Performance wheels but it’s the same wheel in a different finish.
I was using Hankook RS3s, got two with about 50% tread and two new ones. The used ones held up really well but it’s time to go, so RE-71Rs will be mounted in the next month or so. I’m excited to see how much of a difference it makes
